The city of Trujillo is built on top of the ancient Chimu capital of Chan Chan. These photos are from two of the minor huacas of Chan Chan that are open to the public (though hardly anyone is ever at these).
Closeup of the Huaca Arco Iris (Rainbow) namesake. You figure it out, because no one really agrees on what´s going on in these friezes.
The other, less exciting huaca, but with lots of fishes and marine birds. The Chimu subsistence base was partly made up of sea creatures.
